Biologic Therapy | Triple drug therapy and fish oil

Do you know about triple drug therapy for
rheumatoid arthritis? Stay tuned Fish oil may help improve response to triple
drug therapy in RA A recent study showed that adding dietary
fish oil to triple drug therapy for rheumatoid arthritis provided an additional boost in
effectiveness. Triple drug therapy involves the use of methotrexate, sulfasalazine, and
hydroxychloroquine, better known as Plaquenil for treating RA. It has been touted by some
as an alternative to using biologic therapy. Comment: Triple drug therapy is less expensive
than biologic therapy. However, it does not slow disease progression as assessed by x-ray,
which is the major determinant of future disability. Also, it contains its own share of potential
side effects. I’m not a big fan of it.
