Hello everyone, Andy here at the Sunshine Coast. This is Ewen Maddock Dam. It is late in the afternoon. I am hoping to catch my dinner and cook it. I will try to catch a Bass, or Tilapia. I have brought a gas cooker with me. I will be catching and cooking in the kayak. I need to catch a fish first. This is the gear i am using. Sienna 2500 reel. Samaki zing rod.

There was a fish stocking and fundraising competition this morning. I had a nice talk with David who organized the event. It is a little but windy. The oil is hot. Shake the water off the fish. The fish is sizzling nicely. Cooking very nicely now. The thin pieces are almost done. A little too hot, it is sticking. Some oil over here. I have only taken a pan, a stove and some oil. A little bit longer to cook. Any fish you can use in a curry. Meat is meat. Take that piece out, cool it down. Yummy, yummy. That is a good tasting fish. It tastes like a Bream. A little bit of salt would be nice here. The sun is going down fast now. The canoe is shielding my cooking. They are almost cooked Do you like to eat Tilapia? It is hard to film me in a moving boat. Eat some more fish and watch the sun go down. This fish tastes really good. Very delicious fish. I may fish some more. I need some salt. Many people think Tilapia is terrible to eat. And they are a big pest. The sun is just about to set there. What a great day. Look at that sunset, spectacular. I have eaten my fish for dinner. This is the life, great. A really nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Get out here and enjoy nature. I don’t recommend everyone cooks in their kayak. If i catch a fish from now on I will cook it. Fish really just tastes like fish to me. It tastes like a Bream. Look at the sunset now.

  1. Hi Andy. I really enjoy your videos. I have a tip for you on filleting fish. Try filleting the first side 3/4 of the way. start from the back like you did. Leave it connected at the belly. Then flip it over and start the second side. Having the first fillet under the spinal column makes it easier to do a good job filleting the second side.

    I want a boat like yours. What can you tell us about it? The design? The maker? Rock on Andy and thank you.

  3. My grandma always tells me that tilapia taste like bream but I have never heard it from someone else nor have I ate it myself.

  4. In Brazil my uncle farms tilapia, the last one I caught when I was there a couple months ago was 7 kilos! And tilapia there is delicious!

  9. deep fried tilapia with some salt, pepper, and lemon is all you need. really good white flaky meat but too many bones. still good though.

  10. 1500+ comments, don't know if anyone mentioned. Tilapia is considered have an active evolutionary DNA. It is known to adapt to salt water, breed and migrate through salt water, find new fresh water, and re-adapt to fresh water. You don't have to carry it from one stream to another if the two streams meet an ocean, they can just move over on their own. They have been introduced to every nation on the planet, and they have adapted to live in every nation on the planet. They are the fish version of dandelions. Best approach (as it is the only approach) is to hang your head and admit defeat and then eat them up yum!!

  11. Andy tilapia are mouth brooders which is why you bury them. By keeping that fish alive in the water it could have released a mouth full of babies. That’s why you don’t even throw a dead fish back in. Just a hot tip for the day! Keep the great videos coming

  13. I saw that there was several comments about USA people eating tilapia. It's true that they are a totally invasive specie but the ones that people buy in the stores have eliminated most of the red meat and the pin bones and they fry up very nicely. It's quite good like that. I'm like you fish needs some salt and pepper on it. You can buy little miniature salt and pepper shakers and I keep them in my tackle box. The two combined don't take up any more space then a typical 3 inch lure and hold about a teaspoon each. They have a screw off bottom so that you can refill them as needed

  14. WE can eat that tilapia all day here in the Philippines… how come it is considered pest sir? Here in my country we have it in our ponds. Raise them and sell them to the market.

Here in the big city veggies gardens they raze them in 1000 gallon catle water troughs to feed the veggies the water I thought tolapia were ok then I bought one at a Red Lobster resterant $20 I was pissed two bites I spit back in the plate now I hate red lobster resterant s good day fisherman happy trails
