crystal clear aquarium water – saltwater aquarium – rotter tube reef

125 gallon saltwater aquarium 6 feet long the water flows over the top of a reef ready saltwater aquarium and down into your sump, which is the smaller aquarium underneath, for filtering. water flows through the grates and into this overflow, where it empties into the sump via tubing or pvc pipe, below, for filtering. eshopps s-200 protein skimmer. I LOVE IT filtered water is pumped back to aquarium by return pumps and comes out these nozzles. there was sludge buildup and waste on the grates, which was being carried to my sump below, for filtering. i placed a 5″ wide foam piece in each overflow area to catch fish waste and uneaten food. this cleans the water more since it provides a first line of cleaning. it also quiets the water flow trickle sound. it will not overflow and cause a problem. it will not clog. if you don’t replace it the water will just flow over it. I replace this filter media every 3-4 days I meant to say 15 micron, which is excellent at capturing very small particles. Better than any sump sock. This tip will really help to take garbage out of your water so your sump sock or rotter tube or whatever you use for mechanical filtration will collect less.
