Dry Anchovies Fish curry with English subtitles | Nethili Karuvadu Kuzhambu | Nethili Dry Fish curry


Welcome to Pot to Plates Kitchen, Today i am going to show how to make delicious Nethili dry fish curry. I have provided the ingredients required in the description box, Please take a look before start preparing the recipe. Take 150 grams dried anchovies remove the head and tail and keep it ready. Take hot water in a bowl & mix 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Put the Anchovies in this and soak it for 10 mins. In another bowl, Soak a big goose berry size tamarind to make tamarind Puree. After Soaking the Anchovies for 10 mins remove the water and wash it in running water 2 or 3 times to remove unwanted sand particles. In a heated Pan, add 3 tbsp gingelly oil , 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds & saute well. Once its sauted well, add 20 to 25 shallot onions, add 15 garlic cloves, 5 lengthy cut green chillies & saute well for 2 to 3 mins. Once onion & garlic sauted well, add 2 finely chopped tomatoes & saute till it gets smashed. Once its sauted well, add 1 tbsp homemade masala powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder & 1/4 tsp turmeric powder & saute till raw smell disappears. As we have added homemade masala powder no need to add coriander powder or cumin powder separately Once the masala raw smell disappears, add the tomato Puree prepared earlier. Also add the required water for gravy, mix well & allow it to boil. You can add bit more water also as the curry will get thicker after adding coconut puree later. In the mean time prepare Coconut puree. Take 1 piece of coconut and chop into fine pieces,add 1/2 tsp Pepper. Grind it to make puree by adding little amount of water. Add the Coconut Puree once the gravy started boiling well. Add some fresh curry leaves too. Once the gravy started boiling again, add the anchovies to this & mix it well. Add some more curry leaves now. For Dry fish gravy, salt should not be added at initial stage. After adding the anchovies let the gravy boil, test the salt level and add accordingly. After adding salt, Maintain medium flame and leave it to boil for 10 to 15 mins. Delicious Dry Anchovies gravy is ready. Instead of consuming on the same day, if you consume on the next day it tastes super delicious. I hope you will like this recipe.
