Honor Walk for Kyle Fisher at Vanderbilt

An honor walk is when we can get all of
our staff to come line the hallway for our hero that is going to be donating
his gifts. It’s the first one I’ve ever been a part of so it’ll forever be a special
one to me for many reasons. We were able to get people from almost
every unit including some of our own EMTs and paramedics from down in the ER that came up and lined the hallways from his room to the OR. Everyone was in tears and
saying thank you as his bed went by. We were able to show him respect that he
deserves as a hero. Kyle did what he loved until the end and he’ll live on not only in his family and friends’ hearts and all the health care staff
that met him but also the lives and hearts and the families that he was able
to save.

Please honor Mr. Kyle Fisher, 28, who completed his final act of valor when he donated his heart, liver, kidneys, lungs and tissue on Feb. 9, 2019- saving six other lives through the process. Just after midnight that morning, dozens of medical personnel lined the hallways of Vanderbilt University Medical Centerโ€™s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, in a silent memorial called "The Honor Walk", as Fisherโ€™s hospital bed was moved from his patient room to the operating room where he would donate his organs.

Kyle Fisher, a paramedic for American Medical Response, saved lives for a living. He continued to save lives even after his passing, and is deserving of our honor by tribute. Rest in peace Mr. Kyle Fisher, you lived and passed as a Hero.
