How to Bait a Fish Hook | Saltwater Fishing

“Hi, my name is Captain Layne Wagner of Hawk
One Charters. I’ve been a captain for over 40 years. I’ve fished all over the world and now I’m
up here in Long Island, New York. You can find me online at Hawk One Charters, I’ll be talking to you today about saltwater
fishing. Okay, what I’m gonna show you now is how to
bait an artificial bait on your hook. Bait. Hook. You put the hook right through the head of
it, go right down the middle until it goes to the circle, bottom of the hook, punch it
out, move it up to the eye of the hook, and there it is — an artificial grub on a hook. Okay, now what I’m gonna do, is also show
you — imagine this is a real spearing. Spearing. Hook. The same thing — put it through the mouth
of the spearing, come around, and instead, here, you come out his gill, which is right
there. Push the hook this way, turn it, through the
belly, and up, out. What this does, is it gives it a more natural
look. There’s bait and artificial bait. Couldn’t hear what the website was.”

  2. Carried the rod and reel combo up a 3 mile trail to a lake with only a little space for casting. 7 foot length pole shot the lure out like a champ.>>> Caught and landed 3 little rainbows (several strikes as well). Smoooth spinning action, nice hook sets, and easily brought in my fish, even one that had dived into the lakeside reeds. All done, collapsed the rod, detached the reel, parked the line on the reel's line keeper, and disappeared the whole works into my day pack. Pretty cool!
