Junk or Gold? Cheap Backpack Fishing Rod

Junk or Gold? Cheap Backpack Fishing Rod

I’ve just ordered myself a $40
telescopic rod from Amazon and we’re testing out if it’s actually worth $40
what the capability of this rod is and have a little bit of fun with it So collapsed it’s very portable, look at
that, real small keep it in your backpack… keep in your car but when you extend it
gets to 9 feet long and I love these kind of rods because I can just have
this with me, I can have it on me, I can fish at any time it’s called the “so-gai- ylong”
I don’t know how to pronounce it it’s called, I’ll include a link below.
We’re gonna be doing two kinds of fishing with it
to see if it is a good overall rod. First kind of fishing we’re doing is we’re
gonna be throwing plugs and then we’re going to be trying throwing some bait
with it. Has anybody used this kind of telescopic rod before?
I’ve ordered mine off of Amazon for thirty-forty dollars I’m wondering what
your guys experience is to comment that below. We’re here with my brothers my
brother Sean my brother Brian. That was crazy I just saw that! oh there
they are. There’s a ton of stuff jumping. All these fish are jumping. What? This is crazy! I’ve never seen this. Yes, I’m already recording.. do you think
there might be too big? I need a smaller plug. Something hit that. On. He He! On the topwater! Calm yourself All right so the trick with these when
it hits it…don’t set the hook you just reel. When you set the hook it could pull it right out of its mouth. This rod is not good for using lures like this…it’s just too floppy. I don’t have any control over my lure. Using a Deadly
Dick now. (full volume whisper) What?? Yeah!! What are you throwing? I’m throwing a deadly dick. Which is just basically a piece of metal right? Yep it’s just a
piece of metal. Caught a nice little striped bass. So hows the rod feeling? Feels shaky it’s not a sturdy
rod by any means… it’s not good for what kind of fishin I’m doing right now.
What happened? It took it.. it took my whole thing…I tie.. I think it just cut
it right off look.. During times like this when it’s a feeding frenzy.. you need to have reliable gear you don’t want to have to be
worrying about missing fish and That’s what’s
happening to me right now They came in in a second and they left
in a second and I was not equipped or ready to do that. I was just introducing
the rod and then I hear and hear crazy splashing over there
I didn’t tie up correctly or anything and I ended up losing one of my favorite
top water plugs because I didn’t tie it right. This worked well but this was the
only thing that actually works well. This is probably a quarter ounce/half ounce.
The deadly dick worked well. This would not work. The rod is not stiff enough.
It’s not a great overall lure rod Definitely not a good top water rod. Now
the sun’s going down we’re going to settle, we’re gonna settle in and do some
bait fishing now. Just chill. Chill Sean, you have the luscious flowing locks of…. John Snow. Haha! (Sorry, forgot to put an audio track here! ) Something on this one! Woah! Ooo thats a big one! Rod is holding up. The rod is so long! Do you need a net? Yeah. Oh almost! Alright! That was a big one. That rod bend. That’s nice it felt nice it felt really good to hook that. Need pliers?
Actually yeah why not? Channel cat? Channel cat. Shaking its head alot? Yeah it is. This is
not the telescopic rod this is just our fun rod. This is just the bait rod. Hello you. I’m afraid the rod will break. I think its a cat. Its a nice cat. We got worms on here trying to catch spot. Thats a big one! haha! Feel it first Sean. that’s it got it all right slow down Looks like its on, set it! Got it. Alright, slow it down. Rod feeling sturdy? Sturdy enough. Alright Bryan! There we go. Ima take a picture of that one. AHHH. Its storming. The consensus: This doesn’t work well for lures. This works well for bait fishing and that’s it! We gotta get
out of here is storming real bad.

  1. I got a 2.4 meter version of the same rod from Wish ($30 including 7 day shipping). So far it has been impressive.

  2. I have a 9 feet and a 6 feet one from the same company. I love it with the sougayilang colored braided thread and it is soooooo smooth! I have only pier fished so far but I am not disappointed. Only issue for me is packing it up since I keep my line connected at the top.

  3. Had a r2f brand one from wallmart. Was not the best but lasted 2 years before i broke the rod on an eal..

  4. Hi guys, really love your channel. I use to fish in fresh water but will travel soon from canada to a paridise island. And my rods does not fit in luggage bag. I dont have a big budget to spend and looking for a decent telescopic rod to fish at sea. Where can i buy nice rod ship to canada? Thx

  5. I love fishing but the only thing I would use is live bait because I'm not so good at lures maybe one day you can come over your to Texas meet me at Cleveland Texas

  6. +Senko Skipper Thanks, I'm working in China, been looking to buy a rod before going back to South Africa end of year, but I only see these telescopic rods here, not a single solid rod, or even a 3 piece unit ! They're very cheap here inside China online, just have to make sure you don't buy a fake Kastking. I may just get the 12 footer, I will do mostly beach angling back home, got to get it behind the breakers. I've a question : Why do you prefer coffee grinders over baitcasters ? PS I've also seen online here some interesting looking artificial fish lures (imitating larger live bait)

  7. yes, I have one but little shorter. works fine and really like mine. 6.6 long. good for backpacking. with open spinner.

  8. Not sure about that model but the last 2 of 3 collapsible rods I bought were snapped on medium + drag by larger Spanish.
They are super wobbly and bad with lures, and pulling fish up on piers (Rip number 3).
That being said I enjoyed them on the kayak and with sibiki rigs/bait fishing. The length makes for long casts. Also fun if you want to catch small reef fish on light packing vacation but bested by modified children's rod reel combos. I like having one in the arsenal but if you want to blow 20 dollars on a rod that you won't need after a week just go to Walmart while on vacation and give the rod to a homeless person before you fly home.

  9. I have a similar one, the brand is very funny, Sougayilang (搜嘎一郎), it is actually a mixture of 2 Japanese words, "Souga" (a Japanese word from some old Chinese films) and "Yilang” (another Japanese word used in name, meaning "first son", but its Japanese pronunciation is "Ichiro").
Anyone knows why it has such a strange name?

  10. This review is fake people. He didn't order stuff, it was sent to him by the company, along with a nice amount of money to leave this manipulating review. IT WILL BREAK ON FIRST USE.

The positive reviews on Amazon are fake. Every 1 star review that is legit will tell you something breaks on the first use.

Giving sellouts like this little shit money and earn more because of sales is just a marketing strategy for Chinese companies.

  11. Enjoy your videos. Any recommendations for a nice telescopic spinning rod and reel combo? Looking for something that's easy to carry around or even travel with.

  12. Don't know what this dude's talking about not having top-water control with lures, works just fine for me, almost as stiff as my 2-piece Shakespeare rod. Maybe it's cause he has the 9-ft rod? I got the 7-ft rod and it works perfect for almost any kind of fishing imo. I put this rod in my backpack, and during my 4-hour break during college, I head out fishing on the St. Clair river in Michigan. Catch plenty of decent sized bass and catfish no problem. This guy's either being real picky, or his rod is too long.

  13. I just bought two of these for an upcoming trip! My expectations are moderately low but I’m not really planning to use a lot of top water lures.
Guess what I’m planning on using for bait? Salty squid! 👍🏼👍🏼

  14. Push n pull gently each section of rod by slightly twisting to secure tightly or loosening it. Never ever flip the section out forcedly. You'll damage the rings.
Good carbon rod is strong enough to take a hard fighting 6 kg snakehead which fought stronger than pike.
I owned 22 Tele rods of different lengths. Only 4 were damaged.Just bought 3 new ones, last week( upgrade). I got 32 rods in my room !

  15. Hi, you sir just answer my curiosity about those kind of rods 😉🍻 thank you love your show 💡 , new sub to your chanell hope to see a lot of new videos, best wishes to all of you from Croatia, cheers🍻

  16. I used these rods when i was on the riding the motorcycle. I had an ice block i kept in the work refrigerator and one of those cooler bags with a knife in the side pocket and kept a collection of lures in a little box. It all fit into my backpack pretty well and after fishing taking home the catch i realised i had nine perch in the cooler and still had room for more. Backpack on the rod in there with the cooler across my shoulder. These Rods were perfect for my fishing. I always wanted something of better quality. But they didnt make them back then. Now i hear of some top quality companies making good teloscopics, im vary tempted to get a good one for when i jump on the bike again.

  17. My first rod was a telescopic chinese rod, it worked like once and then the reel broke, but even the rod itself was falling apart, the metal collar that the eyelets were secured to just detached from their rod piece when it collapsed so you had to spend a few minutes after extending the rod, just making sure everything was in place. I caught a little red snapper on it, but not much else comes to mind, it wasn't the best first fishing experience. Wouldn't personally recommend a telescopic rod, not from my own experience at least.

  18. my 1 prob with those rods are ever section there is a weak point. i find they brake so EZ. but get for light stuff

  19. Try the kast king Black Hawk 2 great portable pole comes in casting and spinning rod various sizes and actions I believe 14

  20. telescopic rods are great, BUT, don't fish above their weight – they'll snap on you.

(I've broken an eight foot Shakespeare telescopic spinning rod on 7lb carp, I've got a 10 foot Mustang now which I've horsed in a smooth hound with. I also have a 5 foot pocket rod (almost as compact as a pen rod) with a Mitchell 240 match reel on it, I have that as part of of my EDC with an assortment of small barbless hooks and small soft plastics and that thing does GREAT on my local river)

  21. I have 3 of them in different sizes, 1 for fresh water, 1 for the river and the longest for the bay

  22. I would like you to test out the rechargeable twitching lure and the power dolphin drone plz😉😉😉😉😉😉

  23. Never realised you had a prosthetic leg

EDIT: NEVER MIND, just watched your video about the leg and now i feel dumb as fuck lmao

  24. "I don't know how to pronounce it."
Wait, aren't you Asian? I thought any Asian could pronounce Asian…

  25. Same rod under $20 at AliExpress. The stuff you show on Amazon is way over priced. 1600 hooks on Ali is less than $15. The live bait hook maybe $.10 each not $.50, 300m 30Lb braided line…under $7. Fluoro carbon line 500m under $6. Swivels are like 3 cents each or less.

  26. being I'm a fly fisher I'd be comfortable with a 9' rod. I bought a telescopic to use my Deeper Fish Finder. It's the size of a bobber for those not familiar. I can stick this on my sling bag find the fish and then rock out the fly rod!
