May The Force Be With You Carrie Fisher

ACTRESS CARRIE FISHER, WHO IS
BEST KNOWN FOR HER ROLE IN STAR WARS HAS PASSED AWAY. SHE SUFFERED FROM A HEART ATTACK
A FEW DAYS AGO AND UNFORTUNATELY EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE RECENT
REPORTS INDICATING THAT SHE WAS IN STABLE CONDITION, SHE DID
NOT SURVIVE THE HEART ATTACK. SHE OF COURSE HAS A VERY
INTERESTING, COLORFUL PAST. SHE HAS HAD A LOT OF
STRONG THINGS TO SAY ABOUT POLITICS AND EVEN ABOUT HER OWN
FANS, BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE. ONE THING THAT IS INCREDIBLE
ABOUT HER WAS HER SELF-AWARENESS. IN FACT, SHE
SAID, I AM SO SELF-CONSCIOUS BECAUSE I HAVE A BIG MOUTH. EVERYTHING ELSE IS LITTLE, BUT
MY MOUTH IS HUGE. THAT’S SOMETHING SHE WAS QUOTED
AS SAYING. I’LL GET INTO THE DETAILS OF
SOME OF THE THINGS SHE SAID IN THE PAST AS WELL. SHE IS A SUPER INTERESTING
PERSON. NORMALLY SHE IS EXACTLY THE KIND
OF PERSON I WOULD BE BITTER ABOUT. WHY? BECAUSE SHE IS THE DAUGHTER
OF TWO HUGE ENTERTAINERS FROM BACK IN THE DAY, DEBBIE
REYNOLDS AND EDDIE FISHER. SHE HAD AN ENORMOUS LEG UP
AND WOUND UP GETTING ROLES WHEN SHE WAS 12 AND MAJOR MOVIES AND
SHE GOT THE STAR WARS ROLE WHEN SHE WAS 19. YEAH, AND OF COURSE IT KIND OF
SET THE COURSE OF HER LIFE AND I DIDN’T KNOW THIS, BUT SHE
NEVER FINISHED SCHOOLING INCLUDING HIGH SCHOOL AND SHE
HAD SUCH A SUCCESSFUL, WELL-KNOWN, LEGENDARY LIFE. PART OF THAT LEGEND WAS ALL
OF THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT WENT ALONG WITH IT. HER PARENTS ARE DIVORCED WHEN
SHE WAS TWO, THEN HER DAD MARRIED ELIZABETH TAYLOR. SHE HERSELF WINDS UP GOING OUT
WITH PAUL SIMON FOR A LONG TIME AND THEN SHE ALMOST MARRIED DAN
ACKROYD BUT GOT BACK TOGETHER WITH PAUL SIMON SO THERE’S A LOT
OF DRAMA THERE. SHE APPARENTLY DID HAVE A FLING ON
THE SET WITH HARRISON FORD DURING STAR WARS – WHILE HE WAS MARRIED. DRAMA. ALL OF THE STAR STUFF. BUT IT TURNS OUT SHE WAS REALLY
SMART AND ALSO WROTE, I THINK HER WRITING WAS PROBABLY AS GOOD
IF NOT BETTER THAN HER ACTING AND SHE HAD A GREAT SARCASTIC WIT
WAY ABOUT HER THAT I LOVE. IT WASN’T THAT SHE WAS JUST
HANDED STUFF, SHE DID EARN IT AND AFTER STAR WARS, IT
WASN’T EASY. SHE WAS SO TYPECAST IN A ROLE
THAT IT WAS HARD TO GET OTHER ROLES AND SO SHE JUST BUST OUT
BY STARTING TO WRITE STUFF INSTEAD OF ACTING. THERE IS A TON OF RESPECT TO
HAVE FOR HER. KEEP THAT IN MIND GUYS. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE BORN RICH
OR FAMOUS OR WHATEVER IT MIGHT BE, IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU
HAD IT WELL BECAUSE HER LIFE WAS SUPER HARD AS YOU ARE
GOING TO SEE AS WELL AND HER STORY, IT
DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN’T EARN YOUR WAY INTO A GREAT AND
RESPECTED PERSON. ABSOLUTELY AND JUST BECAUSE
YOU ARE BORN INTO WEALTH OR A WELL-KNOWN FAMILY DOESN’T MEAN
THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ANY OBSTACLES THAT OTHER PEOPLE
MAY NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH. SHE HAD A HUGE STRUGGLE WITH
BIPOLAR DISORDER. SHE ALSO HAD SUBSTANCE ABUSE
ISSUES AND SHE WAS VERY OPEN AND CANDID ABOUT THE THINGS WHICH I
THINK IS IMPORTANT FOR PUBLIC FIGURE SUCH AS HERSELF BECAUSE
SO MANY PEOPLE FEEL THE STIGMA ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE THINGS AND
HAVING A PUBLIC FIGURE SPEAK OUT ABOUT IT HOPEFULLY HELPS OTHER
PEOPLE COME OUT AND GET SOME HELP. I ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS
INTERESTING WHEN SHE TALKED ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ADMIRED HER. I WANT TO READ YOU A QUOTE, AND
THE SPECIFICALLY HAS TO DO A STAR WARS FAN WHO ADMIRED HER. WHEN MEN, 50 YEAR PLUS MEN DOWN
TO WELL, THE AGE GOES PRETTY LOW FOR A STATUTORY COMFORT, WHEN
MEN APPROACH ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT I WAS THEIR FIRST LOVE, WHICH
I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT. WHY DID ALL THESE MEN FIND IT SO
EASY TO BE IN LOVE WITH ME THEN AND SO COMPLEX TO BE IN
LOVE WITH ME NOW? I THINK EVERY WOMAN EXPERIENCES
THAT. SHE LOVES HER FANS AND TO
SOME DEGREE, IS HONEST ABOUT LOVING THE ATTENTION SHE
GOT FROM PRINCESS LEIA AND SAYING THAT SHE WAS THE
GUARDIAN OF THAT CHARACTER AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT SHE
PROTECTED THE INTEGRITY OF THAT CHARACTER AND THAT IS ALL
GREAT. AT THE SAME TIME, SOMETIMES
SHE GETS ON STAR WARS FANS FOR LIKING HER TOO MUCH. SHE IS COMPLICATED. SHE IS A
HUMAN BEING. HERE SHE IS UPSET, SHE A LOT TO SAY ABOUT
GETTING OLDER AND AS A PERSON WHO IS IN SOME
WAYS WRITES COMEDY ETC., IT’S ALL GREAT STUFF AND I LOVED
IT. THE SAME TIME, I LOOK AT A
PICTURE OF ME WHEN I WAS 18, I MEAN, YOU CAN’T GET MUCH WORSE
THAT THIS ANYWAY BUT IT WAS MUCH BETTER WHEN I WAS 18 AND
WHEN I AM 46. LET’S KEEP IT REAL. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS. I THINK FOR WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD,
THEY DO GO THROUGH SOMETHING A LITTLE UNIQUE COMPARED TO WHAT
MEN HAVE TO GO TO. WITH WOMEN, YOU AGE AND ALL OF
A SUDDEN YOU ARE NOT AS DESIRABLE AS YOU USED TO BE. WITH MEN, GEORGE CLOONEY AS AN EXAMPLE, BRAD PITT, YOU AGE
AND YOU ARE CONSIDERED MORE ESTABLISHED, EVEN MORE
ATTRACTIVE TO SOME PEOPLE. I UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE MEANT
THERE. I DON’T THINK SHE MEANT TO PUT
ANYONE DOWN OR ANTAGONIZE ANYONE. ONE FINAL THING THAT I WANTED TO
BRING UP. I DIDN’T KNOW THIS, BUT SHE WAS
MARRIED ONCE AND SHE HAS A DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND LEFT
HER FOR ANOTHER GUY. I HAD NO IDEA. I JUST LEARNED THAT TODAY. SHE IS ALSO HONEST
ABOUT CELEBRITY STUFF. YOU MIGHT SAY I’M A PRODUCT OF
HOLLYWOOD INBREEDING. WHEN TWO CELEBRITIES MATE,
SOMETHING LIKE ME AS A RESULT. THAT’S A NICE SELF-EFFACING
COMMENT. AFTER READING HER WHOLE LIFE
STORY, AND I DIDN’T KNOW IT, I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW HER PARENTS
WERE. I CAME TO THINK THANK GOD I WAS
NOT BORN THAT RICH OR TO PEOPLE THAT FAMOUS BECAUSE SHE HAD A
TOUGH LIFE. YOU THINK IT’S AN EASY LIFE,
MONEY, FAME; WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT? WOULD I WANT BIPOLAR DISORDER? THAT DOESN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE REST OF IT BUT
WOULD I TRADE WHAT I HAVE? THAT’S TOUGH. BUT EVEN IF YOU DIVORCED THAT,
EVERYBODY AROUND HER WAS DOING DRUGS. YOU WIND UP DOING DRUGS, YOU GET
INTO SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES. WOULD I TRADE WHAT I HAVE FOR
SUBSTANCE ABUSE? HELL NO. HAVING PARENTS BEING DIVORCED AND
ALL OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT WENT ON WITH IT AND THEN THE
PERSONAL LIFE THAT SHE HAD WHICH WAS, HAD ITS UPS AND DOWNS. AT THE END OF THE DAY, SHE WAS
AN INTERESTING CHARACTER, BELOVED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE I
THINK FOR THE RIGHT REASONS INCLUDING US, BUT NOT AS GOOD OR
AN EASY LIFE AS YOU WOULD THINK.

  1. Only time I've ever cared about a celebrity death. While typing this I got a notification that her mother has been rushed to the hospital.

  2. I'm a big fan of her books , and her one woman show.. These two seem to know little to nothing about her , other than her being in star wars .

  3. Sorry Shenk i love carrie, but she was a silver spoon chica . bipoilar or not. she ain't a difficult life like the rest of us without healthcare. and of course if you are already rich , you'll have more time and space to write books and reflect . we are pulling 3 jobs we can't afford that . I can't exactly pity her for that . I am only sad because 60 ain't old .

  4. Carrie was an awesome character, and I think, and as sad as it is, I believe her struggles with Bi-Polar and other issues were what made her so aware in life.
    She'll be sorely missed. Xxx

  5. Her face resembled a dogs asshole mixed with a prune. I am perplexed why this drug abusive old hag who was at best a marginal actress and a total asshole to people with her bi-polar disorder and spoiled Jewish princess attitude who really thought she was one. RIP but go away, enough already.

  6. Carrie Fisher was a toddler when her Father left to be with the biggest Diva EVER: Liz Taylor. I remember that it was STILL a thing 10 years later in all of those Screen Magazines (pre-People Mag). Her Mother, D. Reynolds was chased around by photographers and unflattering stories of wretched misery became the big story of the next years until Liz and Dick became iconic symbols of run away passion. What I'm saying is this: you can be a young child coming out of that freak show with out some heavy damage.

  7. "Just because you're born into wealth or you're born into a well known family doesn't mean you're not going to have unique obstacles that other people might not have to deal with." ~Ana Kasparian

  8. Breaking News. Carries Mother actress Debbie Reynolds has been rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke and is in a critical condition.

  9. I wish Hillary Clinton would have died instead. I would have easily have traded Fisher for that vile, old piece of shit skank.

  10. Cenk,
You actually can't compare your choices to hers, she lived with a life altering condition, that has been stigmatized for ever. She was an "interesting" person. If you were living with a bipolar mind, perhaps you would trade in what you have for distraction from paranoia, or psychosis or mania. As you explained, your lives, upbringings, and personal conditions are completely different. Therefor you don''t actually know what you would do if your brain chemistry was thrown completely off. Please stop continuing to perpetuate stigma, you guys. She was an amazingly brave and courageous person. Please be more honorable in discussing her. One who lives everyday with an altered mind. I'd send you each a full minute of what it feels like to be in an extreme state if I could, so you would stop comparing what you would do as an individual without a mental illness in comparison with one who lives with it everyday.
    Please Consider This Deeply

I know what this experience is like. I can't fathom what it would be like in the public eye. Especially if I had to listen to people raise their eyebrows and call me an "interesting" person in such a well, loaded or suggestive way. It's "interesting" how the recent programming plays out on your show.

  11. Many people who abuse drugs and alcohol also have a mental illness. They cope with the mental issues by self medicating with drugs and alcohol. I have seen this especially in those who have bipolar disorder.

  12. I was never a Star Wars fan. But I was/am a "Postcards From the Edge" and "Surrender the Pink" fan. Beautiful writing, acerbic wit, an unquiet mind and inquisitive spirit. Ms. Fisher, thank you.

  13. I would watch your live shows but the hatred and horrible stuff being said running down the right side is too much to take!

  14. I wldnt join your network if it was free…. I wldnt join if you paid me…. my integrity is worth more than you cld give me

  15. Debbie Reynolds also died today. I feel so bad for Carrie Fisher's daughter. Lost both her mother and grandmother in two days 😢❤RIP May the force be with you both..

  16. Liked her and now, aww man, her Mom. Enjoyed them both from Singin In the Rain, to the first Star Wars, to Blues Brothers and even 30 Rock. Three years younger than me – too young to go Carrie, too young – but Well Done!

  17. What made her life tough wasn't the money or fame. It was her father abandoning his family and her mother introducing her to drugs at the age of 13. That will screw you up no matter who you are. It's sad and tragic.

  18. Forks over Knives Menu would of prevented that heart attack…ignore this at your own peril…FORKS OVER KNIVES STOPS AND CURES YES CURE CHECK IT OUT CURE CURE CURE …FORKS OVER KNIVES CURES AND PREVENTS HEART DISEASE

  19. I really knew here age, really didn't care, but it turns out she was about the same age as I. No doubt we both knew many who died much erlier than we.

  20. These two are the biggest "white privilege" people on the planet, and NOW they're saying that Carrie Fisher could've had a hard life despite the advantages?

  21. POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE starred Meryl Streep as Carrie Fisher & Shirley MacLaine as Debbie Reynolds.
The movie was based on an autobiographical book by Fisher.

  22. Regardless of what I think of Debbie Reynolds/Carrie Fisher…this was a bad thing to happen. The shock of losing her daughter was too much for her to bear, and I cannot imagine what it must feel like to have your child die before you.I can be as 'nasty' as anyone…and sometimes I am…but not now. "Requiem est Paci" Mother and Daughter.

  23. She was on strong mental-illness drugs that often make a person gain weight cuz they affect the part of the brain that tells you you aren't hungry and the depression slows you down. You get tired easily.  Then she lost enough weight to be on screen and drugs and losing weight quickly is a very bad idea.  This could be a reason for an altogether unexpected heart failure.

  24. Jeez! These things come on three's for real.
    12/25 George Michaels
    12/27 Carrie Fisher
    12/28 Debbie Reynolds!
I texted my mom the latter and OMG as every reaction. And then I asked… So how's the Queen of England doing? Just saying she's been sick too and she's ederly.

  25. And to now hear that her mother Debbie Reynolds, has died the very next day. Early reports as I write this say she had a stroke. My belief is she died from a broken heart. :(….

  26. Long live the Princess!  Carrie and I are same age and although from very different worlds, through her interviews and writings, the contributors for her depression and a lot of the issues she faced were the same ones pretty much all the women of our generation experienced in one form or another.  There was a lot of frustration, and still is, that we weren't getting our "proper place" in a society wired for male domination. The "Gloria Steinams" had opened the doors, but we felt like we were just idling in the foyer. Thnx for the kind and realistic words TYT. Long live the Princess and rest in peace Carrie, such a beautiful person.   #ARENTYOUALITTLESHORTFORASTORMTROOPER

  27. She had to undergo electric shock therapy every six weeks to maintain mental health. Also, her mother and her were homeless after Debbie Reynold's second marriage because Debbie's second husband squandered their money.

  28. Carrie wasn't HIV positive and her hermaphrodite ex girlfriend Kathy Jeung never died from AIDS. She is very much alive & posted on Grindr about Carrie's passing. And, it was Carrie's albino Eskimo boyfriend who died from AIDS in 3751 BC. Get your facts straight, TYT.

  29. I thought she was older than 60. Star Wars came out to theaters in May 1977. I figured she'd be close to Arnold's age. Arnold is 69.

  30. I really didn't enjoy this video. I felt like they didn't really know Carrie Fisher at all, it was just false and incorrect information one after another. Not a very fitting tribute. I felt like Cenk was insulting Carrie almost with his false quotes she never said?

  31. No loss, a mediocre bi-polar actress at best and and a mainlining drug addict at most. She was a bitch to work with and a looser from day one.

  32. Perhaps you should read Rick Worleys Internet Essay. He had some great points about Star Wars and fiction in generel.
