Roddy Ricch Shares His Favorite Kobe Bryant Memory & Reveals What Inspired ‘The Box’ | Billboard

– What’s good, it’s Roddy Ricch, and today I’m ’bout to
go fishing for answers. (popping) (upbeat music) (rattling) Who’s album is better? The Carter II or Dirty Sprite 2? I don’t wanna answer that. (laughing) (drifty music) What’s my favorite Kobe Bryant memory? Oh. My favorite Kobe Bryant memory is when he scored 81 points in a game. Me and my grandpa watched
that game together so, you know that was a very, I don’t know, it was a crazy moment. (upbeat music) What was the inspiration
behind your single, The Box? Um, I don’t know, it was like six o’clock in the morning when I made it, I was in New York. And, I don’t know, I just, I was probably like eight, nine songs in, and I kind of just wanted
to keep the vibes going, so when I made it, I made the song, and then I put the little
door noise at the end, after the song was done. They thought it was finished,
but I knew it wasn’t done. So, yeah. My inspiration was my life,
I guess, you could say. (upbeat music) Who would you say are the
best LA rappers right now? This is opinionated as hell. I have to say Kendrick
Lamar, Roddy Ricch, and YG. Shit. (upbeat music)
