Tuna Salad Sandwich Recipe (Vegan)


– I am Jerry, and you’re
watching “Cooking Stoned.” For this recipe you’re going to need eight ounces of cashews, relish, celery, garbanzo beans, a red
onion, of course bread, and for garnish I suggest
sprouts, tomatoes, some lettuce and possibly radishes. Drain and rinse your garbanzo beans, and then mash them with a fork. Add one cup of cashew cream. You can purchase this from the store, but it’s actually really
simple to make on your own. I’ll put a recipe in the show notes. Finely chop two celery stalks. Add your ground mustard, the
relish, and the chopped celery. Add some minced red onion. Mix all of the ingredients well, and add a little bit of
salt and pepper to finish. Enjoy.

  1. Do you have other uses for the cashew soaking water? Sounds like an interesting byproduct if it picked up some cashew flavor. Could be used in bread-baking, for example, as part of the water, or to cook oatmeal.

  4. Thank you for replying. I liked it so much I used it all in two days after all. I didn't try freezing it. I will make more tomorrow. It is really helpful to have it on hand for a quick break during the day.

  5. This is so good. I even added a small amount of dill pickle relish. I'm canning some squash relish this summer so I might try that too.

    I added a squeeze of lemon and instead of salt i used "Sea-soning Flakes"

    its seaweed in a shaker- a sort of salt alternative.

  8. So, it's 8 oz can of garbanzo beans (i.e., half a 16-oz can) and a cup of cashew cream? To me it looks like there's more garbanzo bean than the added cashew cream, when acc'd to the recipe there should be twice as much of the latter compared to garbanzo beans.

  9. Hey Bro, just got subscribed. Tonight I'm getting my cashews soaking in water (my sister got me salted cashews though). I will add to your recipe some seaweed and Old Bay (I'm a Marylander by choice, and I use OB in everything). Will let you know if the additions are a hit or miss  Thank you for sharing.
