UW Environment: We are the Alaska Salmon Program

School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, University of Washington Rooted in a history spanning more than half
a century, the Alaska Salmon Program is at the forefront of one of the most sustainably
managed fisheries in the world. Our research camps—which sit among some
of Alaska’s most productive freshwater ecosystems—are a hub of scientific innovation. Our work serves as the eyes and ears of the
Bristol Bay Watershed and beyond. We peer into the system’s inner workings, strengthening
our scientific understanding of the region and how the sockeye salmon thrive within it. We dig deep and understand how nature works
now and in the face of change. We train the next generation of leaders in
ecosystem science, and apply what we learn towards building sustainable fisheries in
the Pacific Northwest and around the globe. We help safeguard these thriving ecosystems
for the people and communities that depend on their bounty. We are the Alaska Salmon Program. College of the Environment, University of Washington
